The Virtues of Surah Al-Baqarah

Surah Al-Baqarah is the longest chapter of the Quran, with 286 verses. It contains profound guidance and is associated with numerous virtues and blessings.

Protection from Evil The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Recite Surah Al-Baqarah, for to take recourse to it is a blessing and to give it up is a cause of grief, and the magicians cannot confront it." The surah is known to protect the home from Shaytan when recited in the house.

The Last Two Verses The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever recites the last two verses of Surah Al-Baqarah at night, they will suffice him." These verses (285-286) are a powerful declaration of faith and a supplication for forgiveness and strength.

Ayat al-Kursi Verse 255 of Surah Al-Baqarah—Ayat al-Kursi (the Verse of the Throne)—is one of the greatest verses in the Quran. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Whoever recites Ayat al-Kursi after every obligatory prayer, nothing prevents him from entering Paradise except death."

Guidance and Law The surah covers foundational topics: faith, worship, family law, commerce, charity, fasting, pilgrimage, and jihad. It establishes the framework for a Muslim's life in both worship and worldly affairs.

A Challenge The surah challenges those who doubt the Quran to produce a chapter like it. This challenge remains unanswered—a testament to the Quran's unique and inimitable nature.

Making Surah Al-Baqarah a regular part of your recitation brings immense rewards and protection. May Allah grant us the ability to understand and act upon it.
