The Story of Musa (Moses) and Pharaoh
The story of Prophet Musa (Moses) and Pharaoh is one of the most detailed narratives in the Quran. It shows the triumph of truth over tyranny.
Musa's Early Life Musa was born when Pharaoh was killing the sons of Bani Israel. His mother placed him in a basket in the river. Pharaoh's wife found him and raised him in the palace. Thus, the one who would challenge Pharaoh grew up under his roof.
The Call When Musa received prophethood, Allah sent him and his brother Harun to Pharaoh with clear signs. Musa's staff turned into a serpent, and his hand became radiant. Pharaoh's magicians, upon seeing the truth, believed—but Pharaoh remained arrogant.
The Plagues Allah sent various signs: flood, locusts, lice, frogs, and blood. Each time Pharaoh promised to release the believers, then broke his promise when the plague was lifted.
The Exodus Finally, Allah commanded Musa to lead his people out of Egypt. Pharaoh pursued them with his army. When they reached the sea, Allah parted it for the believers. Pharaoh and his army followed and were drowned.
The Lesson "And We certainly gave Musa the guidance, and We caused the Children of Israel to inherit the Scripture." (Surah Ghafir 40:53) — Allah's promise to the oppressed is sure. Truth will prevail.
