The Story of Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham)
Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham) is called Khalilullah—the friend of Allah. His story in the Quran spans multiple surahs and teaches unwavering faith.
Breaking the Idols Ibrahim's people worshipped idols. One day, when they left for a festival, Ibrahim broke all the idols except the largest. When they returned and demanded an explanation, he said the largest one must have done it. They knew the idols could do nothing—yet they still refused to believe.
The Fire The people threw Ibrahim into a great fire. Allah commanded the fire to be cool and safe for Ibrahim. He emerged unharmed—a miracle that demonstrated Allah's power to save His servants.
The Sacrifice Allah tested Ibrahim with a dream to sacrifice his son Ismail. Both father and son submitted willingly. When Ibrahim was about to sacrifice, Allah replaced Ismail with a ram. This event is commemorated in Eid al-Adha.
Building the Kaaba Ibrahim and Ismail together raised the foundations of the Kaaba and prayed: "Our Lord, accept from us. Indeed, You are the Hearing, the Knowing." (2:127)
The Lesson Ibrahim's life exemplifies complete trust in Allah—through persecution, fire, and the ultimate test of sacrificing his son. He is a model for all believers.
