The Story of Prophet Hud and the People of Ad
The people of Ad were a powerful civilization with great buildings and strength. Allah sent them Prophet Hud, but they rejected him and were destroyed.
The People of Ad Ad was an ancient Arab tribe known for their towering buildings and physical strength. They lived in the region of Al-Ahqaf. They worshipped idols and were arrogant about their power.
Hud's Message Hud called them to worship Allah alone and to abandon their idols. He warned them of punishment if they persisted. They responded: "You have not brought us any clear evidence, and we will not leave our gods for what you say." (11:53)
Their Arrogance They said to Hud: "We see you in foolishness, and indeed, we think you are of the liars." (7:66) They demanded he bring the punishment he threatened. They could not imagine that their civilization could be destroyed.
The Destruction Allah sent a devastating wind that blew for seven nights and eight days. It destroyed everything. The people of Ad were annihilated—except for Hud and those who believed with him.
The Lesson "No nation can advance its term, nor can they delay it." (15:5) — When a people persistently reject truth, their time comes. Power and wealth cannot save those who turn away from Allah.
