The Story of Adam and Iblis

The story of Adam (peace be upon him) and Iblis is told in several surahs of the Quran. It explains the origin of humanity, the nature of temptation, and the importance of repentance.

Creation of Adam Allah created Adam from clay and breathed into him His spirit. He taught Adam the names of all things and commanded the angels to prostrate to him. All obeyed except Iblis, who refused out of pride because he was created from fire while Adam was from clay.

The Fall of Iblis Iblis (Satan) was cast out of Allah's mercy. He vowed to mislead humanity until the Day of Judgment. Allah granted him respite but warned that he would have no authority over Allah's sincere servants.

Adam and Hawwa in Paradise Adam and his wife Hawwa (Eve) lived in Paradise with one prohibition: not to approach a certain tree. Iblis whispered to them, and they ate from it. Their innocence was lost, but they immediately turned to Allah in repentance.

The Lesson "Then Adam received from his Lord [some] words, and He accepted his repentance. Indeed, it is He who is the Accepting of repentance, the Merciful." (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:37) — Repentance is always accepted. No matter how far we fall, we can always return to Allah.
