Laylat al-Qadr: The Night of Power
Laylat al-Qadr (the Night of Decree or Power) is the night when the Quran was first revealed. It falls in the last ten nights of Ramadan, and its blessings are greater than a thousand months.
What the Quran Says "Indeed, We sent the Quran down during the Night of Decree. And what can make you know what is the Night of Decree? The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months." (Surah Al-Qadr 97:1-3) — Worship on this single night is worth more than worship over 83 years.
When Is It? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Seek Laylat al-Qadr in the odd nights of the last ten nights of Ramadan." The 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27th, and 29th nights are the most likely. Many scholars emphasize the 27th night.
Signs of the Night The Prophet (peace be upon him) described it as a calm, clear night—neither hot nor cold, with the sun rising the next morning without rays. Some report a sense of peace and tranquility.
How to Spend It Increase in prayer, Quran recitation, dhikr, and supplication. The Prophet (peace be upon him) taught Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) to say: "O Allah, You are Pardoning and love pardon; so pardon me."
Seek this night with sincerity. It may change your life.
