Istighfar: Seeking Forgiveness from Allah
Istighfar (استغفار) means seeking forgiveness from Allah. It is one of the most powerful and beloved acts of worship. The Prophet (peace be upon him) would seek forgiveness more than seventy times a day.
Sayyidul Istighfar The master of supplications for forgiveness:
"O Allah, You are my Lord. There is no god but You. You created me and I am Your servant. I am upon Your covenant and promise as much as I am able. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me and I acknowledge my sin. So forgive me, for none forgives sins except You." The Prophet said whoever says this with conviction in the day and dies before evening enters Paradise. Whoever says it at night and dies before morning enters Paradise.
